REALTORS® are required to complete Fair Housing / Anti-Bias Training  upon becoming a member, and every 3 years thereafter, coinciding with the Code of Ethics training timeline. REALTORS® who have joined the association after January 1, 2025 - AND - have completed the required Fair Housing training, are seen as having fulfilled this training requirement. Members who have not met the Fair Housing / Anti-Bias Training requirement must complete the training by December 31, 2027, to continue their membership with the Association. This requirement is in addition to the Code of Ethics training.

Failure to meet the requirement is a violation of a membership duty. It will result in suspension of membership for the first two months (January and February) of the year following the end of any three (3) year cycle or until the requirement is met, whichever occurs sooner. On March 1 of that year, the membership of a member who is still suspended as of that date will be automatically terminated.

Two options are available for completing Fair Housing / Anti-Bias Training:

  • Online training options are offered through NAR and can be accessed by clicking here. Login information for the NAR website: Upon applying for membership, you were assigned a Membership ID. This is commonly referred to as your Member ID/NRDS ID. You will need this to create an account and register for the online course.
  • An in-class program is 4 hours in length. For a list of dates and to register, please click here.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation! If you have any questions regarding this training or any other membership questions, please contact your Membership Department.

Reporting Your Fair Housing Training

Please Note: While instructors and schools report continuing education credits directly to the North Carolina Real Estate Commission, they normally do not report NAR's membership requirements on your behalf. This is because students may hold memberships at different Associations/Boards, making it difficult to determine which Association should receive your attendance record.

If you have completed the training program on or after January 1, 2025, but your status does not reflect this on your profile, please send an email containing a PDF or screenshot as proof to the Membership Department so that we may update our records. I
