Unreported Licensee Policy

RRAR Unreported Licensee Policy

If you are a Broker-In-Charge (BIC) and have a licensed agent who has joined your brokerage but has not joined the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors®, that agent is considered an Unreported Licensee.

When RRAR learns of an Unreported Licensee from NCREC, we will automatically send the agent's BIC a courtesy notice and add a $715 assessment fee to the BIC’s account.  (The break-down of this fee is $349 RRAR dues, $210 NCR dues, and $156 NAR dues = $715.)

Upon receiving this notice, a BIC has 30 days to resolve the Unreported Licensee on their account. This can be resolved by one of the three options below:
1. The agent can join RRAR as a Primary or Secondary Realtor® member and pay their dues (How-To Document for agents).
2. The BIC can terminate the agent's sponsorship on their RRAR roster and  with NCREC.
3. The BIC can pay the $715 assessment.

Failure to resolve an Unreported Licensee within the 30-day period will result in a suspension of RRAR and MLS services for all agents in that BIC’s office. The MLS will also charge a $50 reinstatement fee that will be applied to the BIC’s account.

FAQ

What is an Unreported Licensee?

Unreported Licensees are real estate agents who have not joined one of the local association boards of which their Broker-In-Charge (BIC) is a member.

Why are BICs required to resolve an Unreported Licensee?

Article X, Section 2 of the RRAR Bylaws states that if a Broker-In-Charge holds the license of a non-member agent, the BIC must pay membership fees to the Association on behalf of that licensee.

Where can I find a report of my Unreported Licensee(s)?

BICs may view your list of Unreported Licensee agents by logging in to your Member Portal from RRAR.com Under the Brokerage section, select "Unpaid Agents" in the Roster Tab. There you will find an assessment fee of $715.00 that has been added to all Unreported Licensee accounts.

Note: You will NOT have to pay this assessment if the Unreported Licensee joins RRAR or another Realtor® association, or if you terminate the agent sponsorship with NCREC. See the next question below for more details.

How can I resolve my Unreported Licensee(s)?

BICs may choose one of five options to resolve an Unreported Licensee on your account:

  1. Join the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors®:
Have the Unreported Licensee establish Realtor® membership with the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors®.
  2. Join Another Realtor® Association:
If the Unreported Licensee holds membership with another Realtor® association in North Carolina, please submit the agent’s NRDS number, searchable through NAR, to [email protected]. Once NAR records are updated correctly, the agent will be updated manually by customer support and then removed from your Unreported Licensee roster and considered resolved.
  3. Pay the Assessment (Non-Member Fee):
BICs may choose to pay the outstanding balance of $715.00 to the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors®. (The break-down of this fee is $349 RRAR dues, $210 NCR dues, and $156 NAR dues = $715.)
Please note: Paying the assessment will NOT make the Unreported Licensee a member of RRAR, nor does this fee apply to future membership dues should the Unreported Licensee decide to join our Association.
  4. Terminate Agent Sponsorship with NCREC:
Should a BIC decide to no longer sponsor the Unreported Licensee, they will need to update the firm roster in the RRAR portal and fill out the NCREC form to terminate the agent from affiliation with their firm.
  5. Create a Limited Function Referral Only (LFRO) office with NCREC and then with RRAR. Please request the agent(s) be added to the LFRO office by submitting your request to [email protected]  There is no charge to the BIC or licensee for this action.

What happens if I don't report Unreported Licensee(s) on my account?

BICs have 30 days to resolve any Unreported Licensees on their account.
Failure to resolve Unreported Licensees within this time period will result in a suspension of RRAR and MLS services for all agents in that BIC’s office. A $50 reinstatement fee will also be applied to the BIC’s account at that time.
