In keeping with RRAR's Strategic Plan to master member engagement, the Association held a forum that showcased the many opportunities available to Realtor members. Those in attendance learned from RRAR leaders and staff about committee work, volunteer opportunities, and how to become a leader in the Association.
Panelists for this forum were:
Teresa Pitt- 2023 President
Daniel Harmon- Board member, Realtor Giving Network
Karen Hocutt- Vice Chair, Communications/Public Relations committee
Michele Xiong- RRAR staff liaison, DEI & Global committees
Past President Leslie Williams served as the forum moderator. Williams opened the event by sharing with members that the opportunities at RRAR made her a better Realtor. She also encouraged members to dream big when it comes to being an Association leader.

President Pitt spoke about how her administration is focused on engagement and advocacy. Pitt encouraged Realtors to try short-term involvement by sitting in on committee meetings and see what is the best fit for each individual. When it comes to advocacy, President Pitt said what the Association needs is "not just your money, but your presence" when it comes to government affairs and political action.
When asked why member engagement to important, President Pitt said, "Connecting within the association community opens up opportunities and allows us to engage with each other- creating a culture of understanding, acceptance, inclusion, and professional development."
Xiong was then asked what advice she had for members who haven't participated in RRAR opportunities. Her response was: "What are you waiting for?". She then went into detail about RRAR volunteer service and committees. Xiong currently serves as staff liaison to both the Global committee and Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI).
To follow up on volunteering and community service, Harmon gave robust details on the work RRAR's Realtor Giving Network does. Harmon was especially enthusiastic about RGN's current campaign, Hoops to End Homelessness.
When asked about why she is so involved with RRAR, Hocutt said, "Engaging our entire membership with meaningful conversations, value based education, and a collaborative spirit is important to me as a member of the Association." She also encouraged members that are heavily involved currently to invite fellow Realtors to any event offered at RRAR.
"We would love to see some new faces. Go to our website, look up the committees, and find what resonates with you," Hocutt suggested.
After the forum concluded, Past President Williams said she hoped to see RRAR host another similar event.
President Pitt had this to say afterwards: "Our 'WHY' was effectively communicated. Robust discussions ensued about viable and achievable avenues to create a balance between Association volunteerism, work, and family."
