Membership Application Terms & Conditions
Application Agreement
I hereby apply for membership in the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® and enclose my non-refundable application fee, orientation fee and prorated membership dues. I agree, as a condition of my membership, to complete the Association’s orientation course, including REALTOR® Code of Ethics and Fair Housing training, within 60 days and on my own initiative to thoroughly familiarize myself with, and abide by, the Code of Ethics of the National Association of REALTORS®, including the duty to arbitrate business disputes in accordance with the Code of Ethics, the Association’s Arbitration Manual and the constitutions, bylaws, rules and regulations of the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS®, the North Carolina REALTORS® Association and the National Association of REALTORS®.
I acknowledge that if I am accepted as a member and subsequently resign or am expelled from membership with an ethics complaint or arbitration request pending, the Board of Directors may condition renewal of membership upon my verification that I will submit to the pending ethics or arbitration proceeding and abide by the decision of the hearing panel; or, if I resign, or am expelled from membership without having complied with an award in arbitration, the Board of Directors may condition renewal of membership upon payment of the award, plus any related costs previously established as due and payable, provided the award and such costs have not been otherwise satisfied in the interim. I irrevocably waive all claims against the Board, its Officers, Directors, Staff or Members for any acts in connection with the business of the Board and particularly as to its, or their acts, in electing or failing to elect, advancing, suspending, expelling, or otherwise disciplining me as an Applicant or as a Member. Upon the expiration of said Membership for any cause, I will discontinue the use of the designation REALTOR®, Inc. and the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®. I understand that the duty to submit to arbitration continues in effect even after membership lapses or is terminated, provided the dispute arose while I was a REALTOR®.
I agree to pay the fees and dues established by the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® as long as I am a member. I understand the current application/orientation fee is $330.00 and the initial dues are prorated monthly. I understand that if a break in membership occurs, I must pay ALL applicable dues and application fees at the time of rejoining. In addition, I understand that a copy of the National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics is available online and I agree to abide by them. I have read and agree to the conditions of membership. I understand a copy of the association bylaws is available online at www.rrar.com and the bylaws require me to pay my initial dues and to attend orientation, including REALTOR® Code of Ethics and Fair Housing training, within 60 days of submitting this application or my membership will automatically be terminated and my prorated membership dues may be returned to me in accordance with the bylaws.
ALL FEES AND DUES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
By completing the membership application, I consent that the REALTOR® Associations (local, state, national) and their subsidiaries, if any (e.g., DMLS, Foundation) may contact me at the specified address, telephone numbers, fax numbers, email address or other means of communication available. This consent applies to changes in contact information that may be provided by me to the Association(s) in the future. This consent recognizes that certain state and federal laws may place limits on communications that I am waiving to receive all communications as part of my membership.
Note: Applicant acknowledges that the Association will maintain a membership file of information which may be shared with other Associations where applicant subsequently seeks membership. This file shall include previous applications for membership; all final findings of the Code of Ethics violations and violations of other membership duties within the past three (3) years; pending complaints alleging violations of the Code of Ethics or alleging violations of other membership duties; incomplete or pending disciplinary measure; pending arbitration requests; and information related to unpaid awards or financial obligations to the Association or its MLS.
Dues are not deductible as charitable contributions for income tax purposes. Dues may be considered ordinary and necessary business deductions, except for lobbying expenses which as provided in the 1994 Tax Act are a non-deductible expense.
Transferee’s from active membership in another Association/Board, as well as Secondary Memberships, must submit a letter of good standing from the Association’s/Board’s Executive Officer, plus the appropriate prorated share of dues.
Orientation class, including REALTOR® Code of Ethics and Fair Housing training, must be completed within 60 days.
The firm’s Designated REALTOR® is assessed annually for each salesperson employed by or affiliated with the firm who does not become a REALTOR®. Such salespersons have no membership standing, receive no membership benefits, and may not use the term REALTOR®.
