President
Derrick Thornton

My name is Derrick Thornton, and I’m honored to be stepping into this role as the 2027 President of the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors® (RRAR). As I’ve served on the Board of Directors over the years, it’s given me the opportunity to learn from various view points and perspectives. This can be an incredibly challenging industry to navigate. Especially for anyone like myself who entered the business with no connections or background in the field. My involvement with RRAR’s seminars, leadership opportunities, and networking have proved to be invaluable in allowing me to build a career. Volunteering in this capacity is just one small way I can give back to the association and the Realtors who have helped in my endeavors.
I first joined the board in 2020 with equal amounts of excitement and nervousness. Three months into that first year, a global pandemic threw the experience into a whirlwind. Since then, we’ve dealt with historically crazy market shifts, industry lawsuits, the rise of AI, and so much more. It seems as if we’re constantly praying for a “normal year”, but continue to be met with more chaos and uncertainty.
In past times I’ve run for the board, I’ve made the same promise to the members that I make to my clients: I can’t promise you a “stress free” experience” (hint: neither can anyone else!). However, I can promise you I’ll work my hardest to advocate on your behalf and make sure you have a voice in the decisions that are being made for our industry. While I’d normally label myself as a “control freak”, this career continues to teach me just how little control we actually possess.
I’m currently working as a Realtor helping clients buy/sell, a BIC for my firm’s Wake Forest office, and one of the trainers for new agents. With the association, I’ve served as a board director, former board director with the Realtor Giving Network, chair of multiple committees, and the Dean of the Triangle Realtors Leadership Academy (‘21). I have daily interactions and years of experience working alongside Realtors at every level in this business. When combined with my role as a husband and father of three (soon to be four), I can understand and empathize with those in the business constantly in pursuit of making a living, but not doing so at the expense of those you love most.
I’ve had a longstanding belief that it’s best to be a lifelong learner and my faith also leads me to be of service to those I’m blessed to encounter in life. Learning and serving will be the principles I use to help lead us into an incredible year ahead. Here’s to a great 2027!
President-elect (1 position open)
Kevin Starkey

I'm Kevin Starkey, Team Leader and Broker of Sold By Starkey, powered by Compass, and I am running for President-Elect of the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors. I have spent more than 18 years in real estate, building my career as an active agent, team leader, and advocate for our profession. The experiences that have shaped me most are the ones that keep me close to the realities of the business: representing buyers and sellers, leading a small team, navigating changing markets, and working alongside agents with different backgrounds, business models, and perspectives.
My commitment to association leadership spans nearly a decade. I served on the RRAR Board of Directors from 2016 through 2022, returned in 2025, and currently serve on the Executive Committee as Secretary/Treasurer. I have also served on multiple RRAR committees, was Dean of the 2016 Triangle Leadership Academy, chaired the North Carolina Young Professionals Network, and currently serve on the NC Realtors Board of Directors as well. In recent years, my leadership experience has been centered primarily within Realtor associations, where I have learned the importance of collaboration, transparency, preparation, and listening carefully before making decisions that affect thousands of members.
Serving as Secretary/Treasurer has given me a deeper understanding of RRAR’s operations, responsibilities, and potential. It has also reinforced my belief that a strong association must be both steady and willing to evolve. Our profession is changing quickly. Technology, consumer expectations, regulations, and market conditions continue to reshape how Realtors work. RRAR should help members respond to those changes with useful education, strong advocacy, practical resources, and leadership they can trust.
As President-Elect, I would focus on strengthening communication with members, expanding opportunities for meaningful involvement, and ensuring RRAR continues to provide clear value to Realtors at every stage of their careers. I also want to support thoughtful innovation without losing sight of the experience, relationships, and institutional knowledge that have made our Association strong.
While I believe many real estate awards and recognitions carry more weight in marketing than they do in practice, I am proud to have earned consistent recognition for transaction and sales volume for more than a decade. That matters to me not because of rankings or plaques, but because maintaining an active level of business keeps me closely connected to the day-to-day nuances, pressures, and challenges faced by the Realtors I represent.
I am running because real estate is not simply my job. It is the profession that has allowed me to support my family, serve my community, and build lasting relationships. I want to give back to an industry that has given me so much. My goal is to help RRAR remain respected, responsive, and prepared for the future, while making sure our members feel heard, supported, and proud of the Association that represents them.
Hannah Chan
I am honored to seek the position of 2027 Secretary/Treasurer of the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS®.
As a former Deloitte auditor, Broker/Owner and Broker-in-Charge of Cary-Raleigh Realty since 2009, a current RRAR Director, and a REALTOR® with 20 years of experience, I bring financial discipline, governance experience, business leadership, and a commitment to serving our members.
After immigrating to the United States in 2002, I earned my real estate license in 2006. That license became the foundation of my American Dream and transformed my family’s future.
Financial responsibility has been central throughout my career. At Deloitte, I developed a disciplined approach to financial reporting, internal controls, risk assessment, accuracy, and accountability. As Broker/Owner, I oversee my company’s finances, budgets, expenses, profit-and-loss performance, contractual obligations, and long-term decisions. As a real estate investor, I evaluate cash flow, return on investment, financing, risk, liquidity, and long-term value for my portfolio and help clients analyze investment opportunities.
During my two terms on the RRAR Board of Directors, I have approached every decision with preparation, integrity, accountability, and respect for the entire membership. My leadership includes serving as Chair of the Global Advisory Committee and Vice Chair of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee, along with service through Government Affairs, RPAC, Sustainability, the Triangle MLS Hearing Panel, Top Producers Council, and as a State Political Coordinator. I have also volunteered with and supported the REALTOR® Giving Network. As Global Chair, I was honored to help RRAR earn the Diamond Award in NAR’s 2023 Global Achievement Program.
I have invested in our industry’s future as an RPAC Major Investor—beginning at the Sterling R level in 2021 and now serving as a Golden R Major Investor.
At the state level, I serve as an NC REALTORS® Director, Vice Chair of the Global Committee, and a member of the Property Management Committee. Nationally, I serve on the NAR Global Business and Alliances Committee. These responsibilities strengthen my understanding of the regulatory, economic, technological, and professional issues affecting our members.
If elected, I will work collaboratively with the Finance Committee, Board, staff, CPA, and professional advisors to support responsible budgeting, prudent reserve and investment policies, transparent financial reporting, accurate records, and accountable governance. Every financial decision should protect RRAR’s long-term strength, advance its priorities, and create measurable value for members.
As artificial intelligence, changing regulations, new business models, and evolving consumer expectations reshape real estate, RRAR must invest wisely in education, technology, advocacy, risk management, and resources that help members succeed.
As a first-generation immigrant and independent Broker/Owner who built my career from the ground up, I understand the importance of ensuring that members from every background, brokerage size, business model, and career stage have a voice. Every member should know: You belong here, your voice matters, and RRAR’s resources are being managed responsibly on your behalf.
I would be honored to serve as your 2027 Secretary/Treasurer—bringing proven financial discipline, responsible governance, collaborative leadership, and a forward-looking vision for RRAR’s future.
Jon McBride
For more than 30 years, I have built my career around real estate, leadership, financial responsibility, and service to others. Today, as a REALTOR®, I understand firsthand the opportunities and challenges our members encounter while serving clients, building sustainable businesses, and adapting to an industry undergoing significant change.
My commitment to the REALTOR® organization has been one of the most meaningful parts of my professional life. I have served on the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors and previously chaired both RRAR’s Government Policy Issues Committee and RPAC Committee. At the state level, I have represented RRAR as the Region 10 representative for NC REALTORS® Legislative Committee. I previously served as a Region 10 RPAC Trustee and currently serve as Chair of the NC REALTORS® PAC Board of Trustees. I am also a Golden R Major Investor, President’s Circle member, and RPAC Hall of Fame recipient.
In 2025, I was deeply honored to receive the RRAR REALTORS® Choice Award. I am also a graduate of the Triangle REALTORS® Leadership Academy (TRLA) and the NC REALTORS® William C. Bass Leadership Academy.
I am seeking the position of Secretary/Treasurer because I want to give back to the association and profession that have contributed so much to my career. RRAR needs forward-looking leadership that can protect the association’s financial strength while preparing our members for what comes next.
Our industry is being reshaped by changing business models, brokerage consolidation, evolving technology, affordability challenges, regulatory pressures, and rising consumer expectations. RRAR must remain financially responsible, operationally strong, and prepared to provide programs, advocacy, education, and resources that create measurable value for its members.
If elected, I will support transparent financial reporting, thoughtful evaluation of investments and expenditures, and responsible alignment of RRAR’s resources with its strategic priorities. I will also work to ensure that our financial decisions support innovation and help members remain informed, competitive, and prepared for continued industry change.
Most importantly, I will represent the entire membership, not one brokerage, business model, geographic area, or segment of the profession. I will listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, collaborate respectfully with fellow leaders and staff, and make decisions based on what will best strengthen RRAR and the members we serve.
I would be honored to earn your support and continue serving our association as Secretary/Treasurer.
Dr. Talvia Peterson
I am honored to offer my service as a Candidate for Secretary/Treasurer of the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® (RRAR). For more than six years, I have been actively involved with RRAR, and today I serve on the RRAR Board of Directors, RRAR Finance Committee, and RRAR Leadership Identification and Development (LID) Committee, as well as an NC REALTORS® Director. These experiences have strengthened my understanding of governance, financial stewardship, and the responsibility we have to serve our members with transparency and accountability.
My commitment to the REALTOR® organization is both longstanding and active. For more than five years, I have served as an NC REALTORS® Director, giving me valuable experience in association leadership at both the local and state levels. In 2025, I had the privilege of serving as President of the Women’s Council of REALTORS® Greater Triangle, and I currently serve as the 2026 Chair of the NC REALTORS® State Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee. I am also proud to serve as an Ambassador for the NC Housing Foundation, supporting efforts that strengthen housing opportunities and communities across North Carolina. In addition, I am honored to have recently been appointed to serve on both the 2027 NC REALTORS® Risk Management Committee and the 2027 NC REALTORS® Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee, continuing my commitment to strengthening our profession, supporting our members, and advancing the work of our state association.
My RRAR service has also included leadership as Chair and Co-Chair of the Professional Development Committee, two years of service with the LID Committee, contributing member of the Special Centennial Task Force, RPAC Major Investor and participation with DEI and Professional Standards. At the state level, I have served on the NC REALTORS® Risk Management and Special Brokers Risk Management Committees. I am also a proud 2020 graduate of the Triangle REALTOR® Leadership Academy (TRLA).
My professional background provides a strong foundation for the responsibilities of Secretary/Treasurer. As a former Vice President of a national bank, I understand fiduciary responsibility, financial oversight, accountability, and the importance of asking thoughtful questions. I hold an MBA specializing in Finance and a Ph.D. in Business Administration. My governance experience extends beyond real estate through executive leadership roles, including service as President and Secretary, as well as service on Finance and Technology Committees.
If elected, my priorities will center on four areas: member-focused leadership, financial stewardship and accountability, transparency and understanding, and communication and collaboration. I believe our members should not only know what decisions are being made, but also understand how and why those decisions are made, how resources are allocated, and how those decisions create value.
For me, responsible financial leadership is more than balancing numbers. It is about protecting the long-term financial health of our association, aligning resources with strategic priorities, and continually asking:
How does this decision create value for our members and advance the mission of RRAR?
The role of Secretary/Treasurer requires a trusted steward, thoughtful communicator, and strategic partner. I am prepared to bring my financial expertise, governance experience, current Board and Finance Committee service, and proven record of REALTOR® leadership to this position.
It would be an honor to earn the confidence of my fellow REALTORS® and serve as your next Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® Secretary/Treasurer.
Jay Sutton
It’s with great passion and purpose that I submit my candidacy for 2027 Secretary/Treasurer for RRAR.
For the past 20 years, I’ve served my clients and fellow Realtors with professionalism, integrity, and a heart for service. For the past three years, I have served as an RRAR Board Director. My journey in leadership began with a powerful nudge from a Past RRAR President who encouraged me to think bigger and lead boldly. That moment of encouragement led me to the Triangle Realtor Leadership Academy, where I proudly graduated as part of the Class of 2019.
Since then, I’ve continued to give back by serving on diverse committees and subcommittees that shape our association—Professional Development, Government Policies and Issues, Grievance, Strategic Planning, the Governance Task Force, and the Candidate Qualifications Task Force. I’m uniquely qualified for this role based on my second term serving on the Finance Committee. Each opportunity has deepened my commitment to forward-thinking leadership and strategic problem-solving. I believe our association grows stronger when we combine long-term vision with intentional action.
My approach in this new role is the same I’ve offered to the Board and various committees. Specifically, the Finance Committee is grounded in a simple but powerful philosophy: go
L.O.W. — Listen, Observe, Work.
- Listen: I want to hear the honest thoughts, ideas, and concerns of our members and bring them to the table.
- Observe: I’m committed to assessing our current fiscal spending, practices, and processes with a critical eye for both equity and efficiency.
- Work: I show up. I follow through. And I collaborate to get meaningful things done.
I bring a passion for inclusive leadership and a desire to represent voices that aren’t always heard. I believe in adding diverse perspectives, fostering unity across our association, and continuously evolving to meet the needs of today’s—and tomorrow’s—agents.
Serving as Secretary/Treasure isn’t just about a seat at the table. It’s about giving back strategically, with clear intent to help our association grow, innovate, and remain fiscally responsible. I will do the same if elected. Together, we can continue to protect homeownership rights, elevate Realtor professionalism, and ensure our members feel supported and seen.
Outside of real estate, my passion for service extends into the community. I volunteer at church, teach financial literacy, mentor young men, coach youth basketball, and above all, cherish time with my wife, two children, and our spirited Shih-Poo.
With your support, I’m ready to continue leading with vision, heart, and action.
Director Candidates (Vote for 11)
Eddie Alie

This is my 20th year as a REALTOR®. For the past few years, I have dedicated my time to serving more at RRAR. I believe in giving back to our industry and community in whatever ways I can. I try not to turn down any request to be of service and have been involved in supporting our REALTOR® Associations as an RPAC Major Investor since 2015.
My goal has always been to serve my fellow REALTORS® in ways that make it possible for them to be more successful through better education and technology, as well as supporting those less fortunate in the Triangle area and across North Carolina and beyond. Helping with emergency AC deliveries via Cool for Wake/RGN, food bank drives and the NC REALTORS® Gives Back Day and various other ways volunteering to help others in need has been very rewarding to me personally and something I plan to continue doing.
I have also tried to figure out ways to get my fellow REALTORS® more involved with our Association by inviting and encouraging them to participate in RRAR, RPAC, RGN, Committee and Council events.

Lili Ball

With 15 years of real estate experience, including 10 years serving the greater Triangle area with Howard Hanna | Allen Tate (formerly known as Allen Tate) — and as a former RRAR Board member — I know this association from the inside and want to keep bringing that experience to the table. I understand firsthand what our members need from this association — practical tools, real advocacy, and education that keeps pace with a market that doesn't sit still.
Having served on the Board before, I know how RRAR operates, where our strengths are, and where we still have work to do. That institutional knowledge matters right now: our industry is navigating real change — shifting regulations, evolving technology, and buyer/seller expectations that look nothing like they did even a few years ago.
If elected, I'll continue advocating for policies and resources that support agents doing the actual work of this business every day.
Marilyn Bostick

My name is Marilyn Bostick, and I am excited to be a candidate for the 2027 RRAR Board of Directors. Since moving to North Carolina in 2014, RRAR has been an important part of my real estate career, and I would be honored to give back to an association that has supported my growth as a REALTOR®, Broker in Charge, and Real Estate Educator.
Over the last 12 years, I have served on multiple RRAR committees, been a member of Women’s Council of REALTORS®, and actively participated in the Leadership Academy since 2022. I served as the Dean of TRLA Class of 2024 and the Chairperson of the Professional Development Committee in 2024.
I have more than 20 years of experience in real estate sales and management spread over four states and 22 years of experience as an economic analyst. That combination has given me a strong understanding of market conditions, budgeting, financial statements, organizational leadership, and the importance of responsible financial stewardship, all perspectives I would bring to the RRAR Board.
If there is one thing that ties my experiences together, it is education. I believe a strong association should help its members learn, grow, adapt, and succeed. My life philosophy has always been People First—whether I am serving a real estate client, managing an organization, or helping another REALTOR® develop their knowledge and skills.
As a member of the Board of Directors, I would bring that same philosophy to RRAR: listening to our members, asking thoughtful questions, being a responsible steward of our resources, and helping ensure that RRAR continues to deliver meaningful value to REALTORS® throughout our region.
I encourage every RRAR member to take a few minutes to vote during the week of October 5th. Make your voice heard and support the candidates you believe will keep RRAR member-focused, financially responsible, forward-thinking, and committed to helping REALTORS® succeed.
I would be honored to earn your vote for the 2027 RRAR Board of Directors.
Koren Bowman

It has been an honor to serve on the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors since 2023 and currently as the RRAR Doorify MLS Board Liaison. These opportunities have deepened my understanding of the issues facing our members and strengthened my commitment to ensuring our association remains innovative, collaborative, and member-focused.
I am the Owner and Operating Principal of Keller Williams Premier and lead KU Real Estate Group, serving clients across multiple markets throughout North Carolina. Working with agents at every stage of their careers—from new professionals to top-producing teams—provides me with a broad perspective on the challenges and opportunities impacting our industry. As our profession continues to evolve through technology, legislation, and changing consumer expectations, I believe our association must remain proactive, strategic, and future-focused.
Throughout my career, I have been committed to servant leadership, education, and raising the standard of professionalism within our industry. If elected, my focus will be on ensuring RRAR continues to deliver exceptional value to every member by strengthening professional development, embracing innovation, supporting strong advocacy efforts, and fostering meaningful engagement across our diverse membership. I also believe it is critical that we continue preparing REALTORS® for the future by equipping them with the tools, education, and resources necessary to thrive in an ever-changing marketplace.
I believe our association needs leaders who can see beyond today, anticipate what’s next, and bring people together to move our profession forward. I am committed to being a voice for innovation, progress, and strategic leadership as we navigate the opportunities and challenges ahead.
I would be honored to continue serving the members of the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® and respectfully ask for your vote.
Thank you for your support.
Michelle Braat

It has been an honor to serve on the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors Board of Directors for the past two years. I am grateful for the opportunity our members have given me to represent them, and I am seeking another term because I believe deeply in the work of our Association and in the responsibility that comes with serving its members.
I am a realtor with Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston, serving clients throughout the Triangle. After previously serving in an agent development leadership role, I made the decision to focus more fully on my real estate business, volunteer leadership, and teaching. I continue to serve as the lead mentor in my office and teach classes each month, with a strong commitment to helping develop the next generation of realtors. I also bring more than 30 years of experience in sales, service, business ownership, and leadership to my real estate career. Those experiences have taught me to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, share what I have learned, and make decisions based on what best serves the people I represent.
In addition to serving on the RRAR Board of Directors, I serve at the NC REALTORS® level and have been involved in Professional Standards, Communications, RPAC, leadership development, and advocacy. I have earned the SRES®, SRS, and Luxury Property Specialist designations and am a graduate of both the RRAR Leadership Academy and the NC REALTORS William C. Bass Leadership Academy.
My first responsibility as a director is always to be a steward for our members. When I walk into a board meeting or cast a vote, I believe the question should be: How does this serve our membership? That includes being a responsible financial steward of member dues and ensuring our resources are used thoughtfully and strategically.
I also believe a strong Association requires engaged members. I make it a priority to attend and promote RRAR events, connect with realtors throughout our region, and help members understand the many resources, opportunities, and benefits available to them through their Association.
Advocacy remains one of my greatest priorities. The decisions made at the local, state, and national levels directly affect our ability to do business, the rights of property owners, housing availability, and the ability of consumers to achieve homeownership. I want realtors to have a strong voice in those conversations.
I am running for another term because there is more work to do. I want to continue bringing a thoughtful, member-focused perspective to the Board, strengthening engagement, advocating for our profession and property ownership, and ensuring RRAR remains financially responsible, relevant, and responsive to the realtors it serves.
I would be grateful for the opportunity to continue representing our members.
Hannah Chan

I am honored to present my candidacy for the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® (RRAR) Board of Directors. I believe REALTORS® have the power to transform communities, protect homeownership, and elevate our profession.
After immigrating to the United States in 2002, I earned my real estate license in 2006—the foundation of my American Dream. In 2009, I founded Cary-Raleigh Realty, where I continue to serve as Broker/Owner and an active REALTOR®.
With 20 years of real estate experience, I have guided my brokerage and clients through changing markets, laws, regulations, contracts, agency requirements, professional standards, and industry practices. This experience has given me a deep understanding of the challenges REALTORS® face and the importance of timely education, risk management, ethical conduct, and strong professional representation.
I believe knowledge is key and learning has the power to transform our future. My designations—CIPS, GRI, CRS, CLHMS, CDPE, and SFH—reflect my commitment to continuous education and professional excellence. I am also a graduate of the Triangle Leadership Academy and the NC REALTORS® William C. Bass Leadership Academy.
I currently serve my second term on the RRAR Board of Directors and have contributed to Government Affairs, Diversity, Sustainability, the Triangle MLS Hearing Panel, the Top Producers Council, and the Women’s Council. As former Chair of the RRAR Global Advisory Committee, I was honored to help RRAR achieve the Diamond Award in NAR’s Global Achievement Program.
At the state level, I serve as an NC REALTORS® Director, Vice Chair of the Global Committee, and a member of the Economic Development Committee. Nationally, I serve on the NAR Global Business and Alliances Committee.
As the owner of an independent brokerage and an active practitioner, I understand both the responsibilities of leadership and the everyday challenges facing our members. I also bring a multicultural and global perspective that can help RRAR strengthen connections and prepare members to serve our changing communities.
RRAR has given me valuable opportunities to learn, lead, connect, and grow. Throughout my journey, the association has reminded me: You belong here. I have received so much from this profession, and I would be honored to continue serving and giving back.
Our industry is entering a new era shaped by artificial intelligence, AI agents, changing regulations, evolving consumer expectations, and global economic challenges. RRAR must equip members with the education, tools, and resources to adapt while preserving the relationships, professional value, and ethical standards at the heart of real estate.
As a Director, I will continue to listen to our members, support responsible governance, advocate for property rights and homeownership, expand professional development, and help REALTORS® prepare for regulatory, technological, and global change.
It would be a privilege to continue serving on the RRAR Board of Directors as we learn, grow, and shape the future together.
Jenn Cole

I am honored to seek another term on the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors. In 2025, the President appointed me to fill a seat on the Board, and I am now asking for your vote to continue that work. Serving has given me an even greater appreciation for the role RRAR plays in supporting our members, strengthening our profession, and building a strong REALTOR® community.
I have been a REALTOR® since 2008 and a co-owner of an independent brokerage serving the Triangle since 2015. Throughout my career, I have learned that involvement in our Association shapes not only our businesses, but also our professional growth and the communities we serve.
RRAR has given me the opportunity to serve in several capacities, including as Chair of the REALTOR® Giving Network in 2024, assisting with the relaunch of the Council for Independent Brokerages, and currently as an NC REALTORS® Director. Each of these experiences has reinforced my belief that our Association is strongest when members from different business models, backgrounds, and stages of their careers have a voice in its direction.
As the owner of an independent brokerage, one of my priorities for another term is to continue advocating for independent firms and ensuring their perspectives are represented. Independent brokerages face unique opportunities and challenges, and I want RRAR to remain a place where brokers and agents from firms of every size and business model can find resources, education, connections, and a strong professional community.
I also want to build on the positive momentum and growth RRAR has experienced over the past 18 months. Our industry continues to change rapidly, and a strong Association is more important than ever - one that provides relevant education, strong advocacy, and meaningful opportunities for involvement.
Finally, I want to give back something that has been invaluable to me personally: mentorship and connection. Throughout my involvement with RRAR, I have been fortunate to have mentors who welcomed me, encouraged me to get involved, and showed me how to use the Association to advance my career and become a better leader. Those relationships made a difference for me, and I want to be that person for someone else - whether an agent new to the industry, an experienced agent looking for a way to get more involved, or an independent broker trying to find their place within the Association. I want each of them to know there is a seat at the table for them.
If elected, I will continue to listen, ask questions, advocate for our members, and work collaboratively to strengthen RRAR. I would be honored to keep serving an Association that has given so much to me, and to help make sure the next generation of members has the same opportunities to connect, grow, lead, and belong.
Sandy Edwards

I am seeking a position on the Board of Directors because I believe in the vital role our association plays in shaping the future of real estate in our region. As an active REALTOR®, I have experienced firsthand the immense value our organization brings to professionals and communities. I am passionate about advocating for our industry, supporting fellow members, and ensuring we continue to uphold the highest standards of service, professionalism, and integrity.
With 23 years in the real estate industry, I have built a career grounded in client advocacy, collaboration, and continual learning. I have navigated a range of market conditions while developing strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and industry partners. These experiences have given me insight into the challenges and opportunities we face as REALTORS®, from shifting consumer expectations and market volatility to technology integration and legislative changes. I want to bring that insight to the Board to help craft policies and initiatives that support our members and protect the interests of homeowners.
I am particularly interested in contributing to our professional development efforts. As our market faces a quick and ever-changing landscape, we must ensure that REALTORS® are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and tools to thrive. I believe the Board can play a proactive role in promoting education, mentorship, and innovation among our members. Whether through enhanced training programs, leadership development, or support for both new and experienced agents, I see tremendous potential for impact.
Advocacy is another area where I feel I can meaningfully contribute. Our voice matters at the local, state, and national levels. Having served on the Government Policies & Issues Committee, I serve as the Government Policies & Issues Committee Chair which gives me the opportunity to meet with local and state elected officials and cultivate relationships. I am committed to helping ensure our industry remains a strong and credible advocate for policies that promote homeownership, fair housing, and responsible development to help build stronger, more sustainable, and equitable communities for all.
At the core of who I am are service and collaboration. I value diverse perspectives and believe the best outcomes arise when we listen and lead with respect. I am prepared to work hard, ask questions, contribute constructively, and be a dedicated advocate for our membership. I believe in transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement—values I will uphold if given the opportunity to serve.
Ultimately, I want to give back to the profession that has given me so much. Serving on the Board of Directors is a meaningful way to support our members, strengthen our industry, and help shape a positive future for real estate in our region. Having grown up here, practiced since 2003, and raised my family here, I am excited about the possibility of contributing my time, energy, and experience to serve our membership. I look forward to continuing being an advocate for our industry while serving on our Board of Directors.

I am excited to ask for your support as I seek a second two-year term on the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors.
Serving on the Board is a responsibility I take very seriously. The decisions we make should always come back to one question: How does this benefit our members and help them succeed in their businesses? I value the opportunity to listen, ask questions, consider different perspectives, and help make thoughtful decisions that move our Association forward.
One of my favorite parts of serving is staying connected to what is happening throughout our industry—whether it is changes within the MLS, new programs and events, legislative or industry updates, or simply information our members need to know. And, as many of you know, I am rarely accused of being shy! I love connecting with people, sharing information, and making sure important updates make their way beyond the boardroom and back to our greater membership.
I believe strong leadership requires both responsibility and approachability. I will continue to take the work seriously, while still bringing the energy, curiosity and communication.
It would be an honor to continue representing you for another two years, and I would truly appreciate your support and your vote.

I am honored to submit my candidacy for a seat on the Board of Directors for the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS®. After 10 years in the real estate profession and years of involvement with RRAR, I am excited about the opportunity to continue serving our association and contributing to its continued growth and success.
What I value most about real estate is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients, while also building strong relationships with fellow professionals and contributing to the communities we call home. Our profession carries a tremendous responsibility, and I believe we must continue to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and service. I want to help ensure RRAR remains a strong resource and advocate for its members while maintaining the trust of the public we serve.
My involvement with RRAR has provided me with the opportunity to serve in a variety of leadership and committee roles. One of my most rewarding positions was serving as Dean of the Leadership Academy. That experience reinforced for me the importance of developing and encouraging the next generation of leaders within our association. Watching participants grow in their confidence, knowledge, and ability to lead was incredibly rewarding, and it strengthened my belief that investing in people is one of the most important things an organization can do.
I currently serve on the Professional Standards Committee, where I have the opportunity to help uphold the REALTOR® Code of Ethics and support the standards that define our profession. I also currently serve on the Leadership Identification Committee, where I am able to contribute to identifying and encouraging members who have the potential and desire to serve RRAR in future leadership roles. Both experiences have given me a broader perspective on the responsibilities of our association and the importance of thoughtful, engaged leadership.
If elected to the Board, I will bring a collaborative and thoughtful approach to my service. I will advocate for transparency, fairness, ethical excellence, and meaningful member engagement. I believe RRAR is at its best when its leadership listens to its members, welcomes different perspectives, encourages new ideas, and works together toward common goals. Serving on the Board of Directors would be an opportunity for me to continue giving back to an organization that has provided me with so many opportunities to learn, grow, and serve. I would be honored to bring my experience, perspective, and commitment to RRAR's Board and to continue working on behalf of our members and the future of our profession. Thank you for your consideration and support.

Serving on the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors has been both an honor and an opportunity to see firsthand how much thoughtful leadership matters to the future of our industry.
I’ve always believed that leadership is about more than holding a seat at the table. It means showing up, asking meaningful questions, bringing new perspectives forward, and being willing to do the work that moves our profession and our communities ahead.
Community has always been at the heart of both my work and my purpose. Real estate may be the profession I chose, but connecting people, strengthening communities, and creating meaningful impact is what continues to drive me. Throughout my career, I’ve been deeply involved in REALTOR® leadership, housing initiatives, public policy, education, and community service at the local, state, and national levels.
The past two years on the Board has strengthened my appreciation for RRAR and the responsibility we have to remain innovative and connected as our industry continues to evolve.
I would be honored to continue serving on the Board of Directors for a second term and work alongside some of the most amazing leaders in our industry as we move forward thoughtfully.
Outside of real estate, you can likely find me in my backyard in nature, surrounded by my animals and guiding people in the healing space. Whether I’m leading meditation, energy work, or sound healing- the goal is always to bring an inner stillness to the chaos of life. I believe that if we all work together for the common good of the collective, we can bring that same energy into any professional space.

I am honored to be a candidate for the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® (RRAR) Board of Directors. I am a REALTOR® with Long & Foster Real Estate, licensed in April 2023, but my career in real estate began in January 2020. Before becoming a Broker, I worked behind the scenes in transaction coordination, communications, and brokerage operations. That experience gave me a unique perspective on our industry and an appreciation for the people, relationships, and details that come together to serve our clients well.
Since becoming a REALTOR®, I have made involvement in our profession a priority while continuing to grow my business. I was recognized as a Long & Foster Top Producer for 2025 and received the Fast Tracker and Team Spirit Awards in 2024.
My commitment to real estate extends beyond my own business. I currently serve as Chair of RRAR’s Communications & Public Relations Committee and as an RRAR Advocacy Ambassador. My involvement with RRAR has also given me a deeper appreciation for professional standards, ethics, and the role our Association plays in our industry. I am a graduate of the 2025 Triangle REALTOR® Leadership Academy. I also serve as President Elect of Women’s Council of REALTORS®, Greater Triangle, and was honored to receive the 2025 Jean Hunt Award.
These experiences have given me opportunities to lead, collaborate, listen, and learn from REALTORS® with different backgrounds and perspectives. They have also made me want to learn more, which is a big part of why I am running for the Board.
I want to deepen my understanding of RRAR. Knowing how our Association works, how decisions are made, and how we can continue to provide meaningful value to our members will better equip me to educate, support, and advocate for REALTORS® and our community.
I also want to be a voice for my fellow REALTORS®. Our members have different business models, specialties, levels of experience, challenges, and goals. All of those perspectives matter. I believe good leadership starts with listening. I want members to feel comfortable bringing me their questions, ideas, and concerns and know that I will listen and make sure their perspectives are part of the conversation.
I am not running with a predetermined list of things I believe need to be changed. I want to learn first, ask questions, understand what is working and where there are opportunities to do better, and help make informed decisions about how RRAR can best serve its members.
I believe strongly in REALTORS® supporting REALTORS®. Our Association plays an important role in helping members navigate an ever-changing profession through education, advocacy, professional standards, resources, and connection.
Serving on the Board would allow me to advocate for RRAR members while bringing my experience, curiosity, and willingness to listen to the table. I want our members to feel informed, supported, connected, and represented.

I am proud to be a Real Estate Broker and Advisor with Compass and an active member of the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS®. I have always believed that what we do goes far beyond buying and selling real estate. For me, it has always been about people, relationships, our communities, and supporting one another.
Being involved and serving our profession has been an important part of my journey. Throughout my real estate career, I have worked across residential, commercial, relocation, and investment real estate while continuing to grow through education, professional development, and service.
I have been fortunate to serve in leadership roles with RRAR, NC REALTORS®, the National Association of REALTORS® Global Advisory Board, and Women’s Council of REALTORS®. These experiences have given me the opportunity to learn from incredible people, represent our members at the local, state, national, and global levels, and bring new ideas, relationships, and opportunities back to our local Association.
Along the way, I have been honored to receive the Women’s Council of REALTORS® Jean Hunt Prestigious Award and RRAR’s Global Diamond Award, the highest level of recognition in the Global Achievement Program. These recognitions were possible because of the support, encouragement, and collaboration of so many of our members, volunteers, staff, and leaders, and I am truly grateful.
I genuinely enjoy being there for our members—welcoming someone new, helping a colleague, encouraging someone to get involved, mentoring an emerging leader, or speaking up when our members and our profession need a voice.
For years, I have said we should be “Loud and Proud” to be members of RRAR, and I mean it. We have an incredible Association because of our members, volunteers, staff, and leaders who give so much of themselves. I am grateful for the friendships, opportunities, and experiences RRAR has given me.
My commitment is to continue advocating for our members, supporting opportunities for education and leadership, encouraging greater involvement, and helping keep our Association strong, connected, innovative, and moving forward.
Most importantly, I want every member—whether you are new to the profession or have been a REALTOR® for decades—to know that your voice matters and that RRAR is your professional home.
It would be my honor to serve you as a member of the RRAR Board of Directors. Thank you for your trust and support.

I am seeking the opportunity to serve on the RRAR Board of Directors because I want to contribute more meaningfully to the decisions that shape our Association and the daily work of our members.
As a current Broker-in-Charge of an office of 20 agents, I am responsible for guiding and mentoring agents, interpreting policies, promoting ethical practices, supporting compliance, and helping them navigate our current real estate environment. I also work directly with buyers and sellers, so I understand firsthand what it takes to serve clients in this increasingly unpredictable market.
These responsibilities have given me a practical understanding of how our policies, technology, education, and communication directly affect both agents and the consumers we serve.
I would bring a thoughtful, collaborative, and member-focused perspective to the Board. I am comfortable listening to differing viewpoints, asking meaningful questions, and helping turn discussions into practical solutions.
I also see Board service as an opportunity to deepen my involvement at the Association level, grow as a leader, and advocate for policies and procedures that help our members serve their clients with professionalism and confidence.
I would be honored to represent our membership and contribute my experience, energy, and commitment to the continued strength of our Association.

I am deeply grateful for my family, mentors, colleagues, and the many opportunities that have shaped both my career and my life. I am proud to be part of the Raleigh real estate community and honored to be considered for the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors.
I have worked in real estate for nearly a decade, beginning my career in a support role assisting REALTORS® and property managers with the day-to-day work required to serve clients successfully. That experience gave me a strong understanding of the groundwork behind our profession, the dedication required to serve clients well, and the dependable support REALTORS® need to succeed.
Today, I serve as Office Manager and REALTOR® at True Grace Realty, where I helped build the brokerage from the ground up. Along the way, I have had the opportunity to serve buyers, sellers, property owners, and tenants while helping establish the systems and processes that support our growing company.
I am committed to continued learning and service. I have earned the GRI, ABR, HFR, and SRES designations, graduated from the RRAR Leadership Academy class of 2025, and currently serve on the RRAR Global Committee and the NC REALTORS® Risk Management Committee.
Raised between the US and Taiwan, I learned to appreciate different perspectives, adapt to new environments, and connect with people from many backgrounds. My Christian faith and years of service in my church through teaching, volunteering, and leadership have shaped my commitment to serving others with compassion and integrity.
I believe RRAR is strongest when different voices, cultures, professional experiences, and perspectives are welcomed. I hope to help members at every stage of their careers feel heard, supported, and connected to the education and resources they need to grow.
I am seeking this opportunity because I believe this is the right time to give back to an association that has invested so much in my professional growth. It would be a privilege to represent our members, bring a thoughtful and practical perspective to the Board, and serve the REALTOR® community that has given me so much.

I am excited to seek the opportunity to serve on the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® (RRAR) Board of Directors because I believe our association is strongest when its leadership reflects the diverse professionals, experiences, and communities that make up our industry.
As a Realtor®/Broker with DASH Carolina, I work with buyers, sellers, investors, first-time homebuyers, relocation clients, and builders. I have earned my ABR® designation and e-PRO® certification, and as an entrepreneur and business owner, I bring a practical, solutions-focused perspective to everything I do. I understand the opportunities and challenges agents face because I work in the business alongside them.
I am also a proud graduate of North Carolina Central University, where I earned my degree in Psychology. My educational background has strengthened my ability to understand people, communicate effectively, listen to different perspectives, and build meaningful relationships, all skills that I believe are essential to strong leadership.
I have also had the opportunity to serve on the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee, an experience that has been especially meaningful to me. I strongly believe our industry benefits when different voices, backgrounds, and perspectives are represented. To me, inclusion means creating an environment where people feel welcomed, heard, valued, and encouraged to participate. I would bring that same commitment to the Board.
If elected, I want to help make RRAR even more engaging, accessible, and valuable to its members. I am passionate about increasing member involvement, supporting newer agents, expanding education and business-development opportunities, embracing technology, and ensuring REALTORS® understand and utilize the resources available to them.
Real estate is constantly evolving, and our leadership must be willing to evolve with it. I believe there is tremendous value in bringing together experienced leadership with fresh ideas, diverse perspectives, and professionals who aren't afraid to ask questions and explore new possibilities.
Most importantly, I am not running simply to hold a title, I am running because I want to contribute, serve, and make a difference. I will bring energy, an entrepreneurial mindset, an inclusive perspective, and a genuine commitment to our members and the communities we represent.
I would be honored to bring my experience, enthusiasm, and perspective to the RRAR Board of Directors and help continue building an association where every member has an opportunity to connect, grow, lead, and succeed.

Serving on the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors (RRAR) Board of Directors for my first term has been an honor. Being a real estate agent and a brokerage owner is the most rewarding work of my career, and I am deeply honored to serve the profession that gives us all so much. Today, I am asking for your vote to allow me to continue to serve.
As both a working agent and a brokerage owner, I understand the multifaceted challenges we face daily in our local market. I know firsthand what both agents and owners need to thrive, and I bring that dual perspective directly to the boardroom. I have always believed in the power of continuing education to elevate our profession, which is why I have worked hard to earn my ABR, SRS, PSA, ePro, and GRI certifications/designations. This practical business experience, combined with the insights gained during my current time on the Board, means I can hit the ground running in a second term without a learning curve.
My dedication to RRAR is rooted in active, long-term participation across our association. Earlier in my career, I was involved with the Communications Committee, which laid a strong foundation for my understanding of how our association connects with its members. From there, I joined the inaugural Toastmasters group. I subsequently served on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee, a role that cemented my commitment to fostering an association where every single member feels supported and empowered to succeed. Today, as a current member of the Top Producers Council.
I know what it takes to excel in our current market, and I want to ensure RRAR provides the resources and advocacy necessary for all agents and owners to elevate their business today and in the future.
If re-elected, my priorities will remain focused on transparency, member empowerment, and advocacy. I want to continue building an association that doesn't just react to industry shifts, but proactively equips you to conquer them. I am proud of our association and am excited about our future. I would be honored to continue being your voice on the Board of Directors.
Thank you for your time, your trust, and your vote.
