Code of Ethics
National Association of REALTORS® Triennial Code of Ethics Requirement
Current cycle: January 1, 2025 - December 31, 2027.
Existing REALTOR® members must complete Ethics training within three-year cycles in order to remain a member in good standing and maintain membership with NAR.
Failure to complete an Ethics course during the current cycle will result in the suspension of membership services and benefits at the local (RRAR), state (NCR), and national (NAR) levels.
Completed your Code of Ethics?
We do not share a database with any other school or the NC Real Estate Commission. You may take a course in Ethics at any school. If you take an Ethics course somewhere other than at RRAR, including on-demand courses, then you will need to send a copy of your Certificate of Completion to [email protected]
Options to fulfill the Code of Ethics requirement:
On-Demand Code of Ethics through RRAR
DOES NOT fulfill your CE elective credit.
4-hour On-Demand Elective course on Code of Ethics
This WILL fulfill your CE elective for the year. You may take one of the following from our on-demand partners: Scruples and the Code, For Your Own Good: The Realtor® Code of Ethics, or Realtor® Code of Ethics.
*Please note: You will still be responsible for submitting your certificate of completion to us at [email protected] in order to receive ethics credit.
Free Code of Ethics through NAR
DOES NOT fulfill your CE elective credit.
Commitment to Excellence (C2EX)
DOES NOT fulfill your CE elective credit. C2EX is an endorsement from NAR.
Appraisers
As a member of NAR, you are required to take a realtor-approved ethics course. The USPAP does not count toward this requirement. If you are an appraiser and do not need NCREC CE elective credit, you should opt for taking the FREE 2 ½ hour course at the NAR website.
Broker-In-Charge
We are pleased to share resources that will help you easily monitor the Code of Ethics (COE) completion status for the agents in your office through the M1 platform. This streamlined process allows you to stay informed and ensure compliance for your team. When a broker logs into M1 to access the Insights Hub, the various dashboards are automatically customized for their office. If a broker has more than one office, a dropdown menu enables them to switch between offices to gather agent data from each. Most importantly the data is fully private and belongs to the brokers.
To assist you, we have included both a video tutorial and a webpage with detailed instructions to guide you through accessing and navigating the platform.
These tools will walk you through the process of pulling agent data, checking COE completion, and ensuring your office records are up to date.
