ChatGPT has only been available to the public for six months. But it has already generated a ton of attention for how quickly the program can generate detailed, articulate content on a wide spectrum of topics.

With ChatGPT being such a relevant topic, YPN thought it would be a good fit for its Coffee & Conversation series this month. Judging by the high number of members who attended, it was a perfect fit.

RRAR Board Member Jon McBride was the guest speaker at the event. McBride shared his experience with ChatGPT, showed members some best practices for using it in real estate, and had some fun with explaining the process.

ChatGPT is artificial intelligence (AI) software that creates text. To get a first-hand explanation, we went straight to the source. We asked ChatGPT to describe itself using its own software.

"ChatGPT is a large language model created by OpenAI, based on the GPT-3.5 architecture. It is capable of generating human-like responses to various text-based inputs, such as questions, prompts, or commands. ChatGPT has been trained on a diverse range of internet text and is constantly improving its abilities through continued training."

McBride showed members how quick and easy it is to install ChatGPT and get the program to create content. Realtors® learned that ChatGPT can be used to describe listings, write blog posts, or create social media comments. When asked why he wanted to share his ChatGPT experience with members, McBride said that learning this technology can be a real advantage for Realtors®.

"I firmly believe that ChatGPT has the potential to revolutionize the way they engage with clients and provide exceptional customer experiences. By harnessing the power of ChatGPT, realtors can offer personalized, efficient, and informative interactions with clients."- Jon McBride

During the seminar, McBride showed other examples of ChatGPT that can be beneficial for Realtors®. He shared that he had used the software to give emails a professional tone, translate responses from English for clients that speak other languages, and write promotional scripts for RRAR. Members who attended were heavily engaged with the conversation- many sharing their own experiences with ChatGPT.

Realtor® Julia Collins served as emcee for the seminar. Having attended all of the Coffee & Conversation events, Collins thought that the ChatGPT topic was the most interactive one so far.
"It was so great to see the engagement of the audience and I was thrilled that it turned into a shared discussion among all attendees.  We certainly appreciated everyone’s time and input", she shared after the event.

For all the convenience that ChatGPT can provide, McBride cautioned members that there are some limitations. He suggested that Realtors® who use ChatGPT give their text complete edits that give your messages a human, personal touch that the software doesn't have. Realtors® were also advised that the more detail that you can prompt, the better service that can be given to potential clients. This includes descriptions of properties, features that are included in a home, and mentioning specific neighborhoods.

After the seminar wrapped and he had a moment to chat candidly with members who had follow-up questions, McBride felt good about the day's turnout.
"Overall, I am thrilled with the outcome of today's seminar and the level of interest shown by the Realtors®. It was a wonderful opportunity to share knowledge and inspire professionals in the real estate industry to embrace the potential of ChatGPT in elevating their client engagement strategies," he stated afterwards.

So that's McBride's personal assessment of the event. We thought we'd take a page out of his book and ask ChatGPT to provide some social media reviews of his talk.
