RALEIGH, NC — As summer temperatures rise, many Wake County residents living without air conditioning face life-threatening conditions. Relief is on the way thanks to the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® (RRAR) REALTOR® Giving Network (RGN).
Now in its 13th year, RGN continues its support of Cool for Wake, a seasonal weather relief program led by Wake County Health and Human Services. The program provides free fans and air conditioning units to eligible households in need.
This summer, the REALTOR® Giving Network will donate 40 brand-new window A/C units, and REALTOR® volunteers will personally deliver each unit directly to residents at no cost.
“REALTORS® want all neighbors to live comfortably and safely in their homes—especially those who are medically fragile and suffer through the summer months without central air,” said Heather Thompson, Vice President of the RRAR REALTOR® Giving Network. “Anytime we get a call that a neighbor needs an A/C unit, we have a REALTOR® at that home within 24 hours.”
To date, RGN has provided 306 air conditioning units to seniors, children, and individuals with special needs or chronic health conditions, helping to protect the community’s most vulnerable residents from the dangers of extreme heat.
