On Wednesday, June 19, REALTORS® from Raleigh and Durham came together for NC REALTORS® Gives Back Day to help some of our most vulnerable neighbors in need. We partnered with local non-profit CASA for the day through multiple teams of volunteers. The day was kicked off in Durham at CASA’s Denson Apartments for Veterans with landscaping and cleaning the apartment's exterior. Volunteers spread mulch, planted new plants, and cleaned stairwells. While our volunteers were busy getting their hands dirty, a few veterans living in the apartments joined our efforts in giving the area a much needed facelift. After all the mulch had been spread and the stairwells freed of cobwebs, our volunteers enjoyed a catered lunch with all the veteran tenants.
At a different CASA location in Raleigh, more REALTORS® were hard at work cleaning and furnishing four apartments for tenants transitioning out of homelessness. The tenants and their families went to hand-pick their furniture at The Green Chair Project before having it delivered and arranged in their apartments. Prior to Wednesday, some of these tenants were sleeping on air mattresses with the bare minimum in belongings. Now, they all have beds to call their own, paintings hung on the walls, and fully stocked kitchens. The gratitude these tenants had for the partnerships and the volunteers helping was felt by everyone.
A big thank you to Tim McBrayer. Tim raised over $9,000 from the Coldwell Banker HPW to furnish six apartments for formerly homeless families. Tim gives his time, boundless energy and heart plus his leadership gifts. Tim is currently serving as Past President of the REALTOR® Foundation of Wake County.
Thank you to all who participated in NC REALTORS® Gives Back Day and helped to make it so successful!
