Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS®
Observe REALTOR® Safety Week 2006

RALEIGH, N.C.- To raise awareness about vital safety issues, the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® (RRAR) participated in the forth annual REALTOR® Safety Week, which was officially designated by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (NAR) the week of September 10-16, 2006.

Due to their frequent contact with unfamiliar people in private locations, real estate agents face more on the job risks than many other business professionals.

Leigh Woody, Senior trainer from Citizens Against Crime, spoke to Raleigh area REALTORS® at the RRAR Safety Seminar, which was held on October 20, 2006. RRAR has passed on a set of recommendations from NAR that could possibly save the lives of our members. Among the suggestions are mandatory office policies for better identification of prospects to make it more difficult for criminals to target real estate agents.  Leigh also spoke extensively about car safety and protecting yourself against home break-ins.

The purpose of the week is to help create safety thinking among real estate practitioners and to remind them about the importance of safety.  The next safety week is scheduled for September 9-15, 2007.
