Local Government Information

Local Governments of Wake County

Like it or not, Wake County is home to twelve local governments. While this may make keeping up with policy changes, a real challenge, this fact supports the concept that the areas that make up Wake county are very different, and wish to remain that way.
Most of these governing bodies have adopting the Council-Manager  form of government, which gives the legislative powers to the Board of commissioners and the executive powers to the Town Manager. This means the Town Board adopts the policies and ordinances and the Town Manger is charged with ensuring that these laws are enacted and followed.
