Your Wake County Elected Officials

Wake County Wake county is home to 11 municipal governments, in addition to a school board and a Board of County Commissioners. Wake county and the Triangle are arguable the economic driver of the great Tarheel state. Consistently rated as one of the best places to live and work in America, Wake County is home to NC State University, Research Triangle Park, and 2006 Stanley Cup Champions, the Carolina Hurricanes. Wake County is also the center of state government, with our Capitol Building, legislature and many government offices located in Raleigh.  
 
The seven individuals that make up the Wake County Board of Commissioners, are elected for four year terms in even numbered years. The City of Raleigh
The city of Raleigh is the ‘City of Oaks’, and in addition to being the largest municipality in Wake county, also serves as the State’s capitol. The eight member town council is elected for two-year terms every other year. The town governmental structure is a Manager/Council style of government and typically meets every second and fourth Tuesday afternoon. To visit the City of Raleigh's website click here


The Town of Cary
The Town of Cary, is another gem of Wake county. Cary thrives in the heart of the Triangle area of North Carolina, between Raleigh and the renowned Research Triangle Park. The Triangle area repeatedly has ranked among the top regions in the country to live, work, find a home, start a business,raise a family or retire. The January 2004 issue of Money Magazine names Cary, N.C. the hottest town in the East and one of six Hottest Towns in America. In August 2006, Cary was again recognized by Money Magazine as one of the Best Small Cities in America, ranking fifth on the magazine's 2006 list of Best Places to Live. The Cary Town Council typically meets the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. The agenda is placed on the Web the Friday before the meeting, and minutes of the previous meeting are also available then. The action agenda, an abbreviated form of the minutes, is placed online the day after the meeting. Minutes are official after the council approves them.
